THE BEACHES OF THE WEST RIVIERA

THE BEACHES OF THE WEST RIVIERA

The Liguria is the queen of the Italian beaches. Every year the region is at the top of the Italian ranking of locations awarded with the Blue Flag. This year they have even increased. And it is not a coincidence: picturesque coves and excellent seaside services along approximately 350 kilometers of coast, between wide sandy beaches, pebble and gravel beaches and cliffs that hide Caribbean coves.

The Riviera di Ponente offers sandy beaches and resorts dedicated to seaside tourism, as well as Alassio, there are Varazze, Finale Ligure, Diano Marina, Sanremo and Bordighera. On the coasts there is a succession of well-equipped bathing establishments, which leave room for short stretches of free beaches.

Are you staying in Alassio and want to discover some wonderful new beaches located nearby? Here are some tips if you want to organize a different trip:

  • BERGEGGI BEACH: it is one of the best known but also one of the least contaminating and crowded with tourists. This beach is located in the Bergeggi National Park and here you can come into contact with authentic and sometimes wild nature, discovering natural beauty.
  • FISHERMEN’S BEACH: it is more “traditional” and crowded than the first one, but it still offers crystal clear sea and coarser sand.
  • EGG BEACH: it is a more rocky beach, also known as Balzi Rossi. Here a play of chromatic contrasts is created between the rocks which are made of ferrous limestone from the Dolomites which gives the typical red colour, in contrast with the color of the sea. In the area there are some of the coolest and most well-equipped beach establishments on the Riviera di Ponente.
  • SIRENE BEACH: located between Savona and Spotorno, it is a beach sheltered from traffic noise by a high overhanging rock. The beach is made up of fine black gravel and the water is crystal clear. This is a true natural paradise. To reach it you have to go up a long and steep staircase, but once you arrive, you will never want to leave. For those who love snorkeling, this beach is absolutely perfect.
  • BAIA DEI SARACENI: located on the outskirts of Varigotti in a place called malpasso. Here there is no shortage of wild landscape, fragrant Mediterranean scrub and simply perfect water.

Take advantage of a day to relax, sunbathe and swim in crystal clear waters. After the beach, visit the nearby inland village and enjoy dinner in a typical Ligurian restaurant.
Liguria is many things, it will undoubtedly give you wonderful experiences and you will want to return every year.
